LGBT+ History Month is held in February every year in order to celebrate and educate on the diverse experience and rich history of LGBT+ people in the UK.
Consider that homosexuality was only decriminalised in 1967; same sex couples were only able to adopt in 2005; same sex marriages have only been recognised and performed in England since March 2014.
LGBT+ rights have come a long way in the last few decades but LGBT+ history is still too often erased or overlooked. LGBT History Month helps shine a spotlight on the incredible contributions of LGBT+ individuals across society, combating prejudice with education.
