We’re here to support all students throughout the COVID-19 crisis and are actively working with the Universities and responding to your ongoing concerns. Throughout everything your health and welfare is our absolute priority. We’ll aim to keep this page up to date as we receive new information so please check back regularly.
November 2020 Update:
As you will have heard, Medway was announced as a Tier 3 area.
We want to reassure you that this does not change our current activity as the majority of GKSU services are running online and accessible to students from home. You can still contact our Advice and Support if you have any concerns about your academic course, your funding, or your accommodation. You can also contact GKSU reception about anything and we will direct you to the best person to help.
For Student Groups, it means a continuation of the current postponement to in person activity.
Student Group meet ups to remain online.
No room bookings are being taken at this time.
Sports are not permitted indoors or outdoors.
Deep End to remain closed until the end of January.
September 2020 Update:
The Deep End will be closing at 10pm offering table service only. Please make sure you have downloaded the Student Orders app as this is the only way to order and pay. We can only welcome you in a group of six, you can pre book your bubble .
It is also mandatory to wear a face covering when moving around in the Student Hub and Deep End (unless you are exempt). You may only remove your face covering when sat down to eat in the Deep End.
If you have the NHS Covid 19 app, please scan the QR code when entering the Deep End to provide your location.
If you feel unwell, please follow these three steps to keep you and those around you safe and well.
STEP 1: ISOLATE – The main symptoms of COVID-19 are high temperature, a new, dry cough, or sudden loss of taste or smell. With any of these symptoms, you should self-isolate immediately for 10 days.
STEP 2: TEST – Go to the NHS website to check your symptoms. You will need to enter your postcode. For the Student Hub, use ME4 4AG. For Pier Quays use ME7 1FL.
The symptom checker will tell you if you need to take a test or not.
If you need a test, you should:
Go online to book a test or call 119 from any UK phone/mobile. You will be directed to your nearest test-site. There is a Local Testing Site (LTS) on campus, which is operational 7 days/week from 08:00-20:00.

We will be following social distancing within the spaces on Campus.
We are sure you will have a great time at our events, GKSU will ensure we have a number of measures in place to keep you Covid-secure. By signing up to our events and attending in person, you agree to follow all the safety guidance in place. This may include wearing a mask, social distancing from others, filling out the track and trace system we have and/or other safety precautions. You also agree to the wider University guidelines which can also be found here. If you have any questions, or want more information – please email [email protected]!
From 14 September there will be a legal limit on the number of people you don’t live with you are able to meet. When meeting with people you don’t live with you can socialise in groups of up to 6. You should continue to maintain social distancing with anyone you do not live with.
