As you will have heard, the government has announced a national lockdown from Thursday 5th November until at least Wednesday 2nd December.

We understand that Student Groups especially will be concerned about what that means for their activities and we are working to confirm the specifics of what activity is permitted on campus. Please keep a careful eye on GKSU’s social media and our Covid News page over the coming week. We will send you an email to confirm the latest as soon as we can, before Thursday.

Important Activities Updates:

  • It is business as usual until Wednesday and any physical room bookings will be honoured until then. After Wednesday, if you have an ongoing room booking, unfortunately these will be postponed or cancelled.

  • All Student Group activity will need to be postponed, cancelled or moved online from 5th November.

  • If you have any equipment you need to collect or drop off into the Student Hub or Rifle Range, please get in touch before Wednesday.

Please keep an eye out for more emails from us about these changes. We will have more details and more online support and activities to come over the next few weeks.

We understand that this is a confusing time for everyone and we want to assure you that our services will all be accessible online over lockdown. GKSU Reception and GKSU Advice Centre are going online; please remember you can approach Advice if you have any concerns about finance, accommodation, or your academic courses. If you just want someone to talk to, the Activities Team will also be there to support you when working from home.
